Project 5: Debate

WE HAD A DEBATE IN OUR STUDIO 300!!!!!!

It was so excited that we were divided into four groups, and six mates in one group.

In my group, my friends: AM, Chua,YC, Keyang, QaQa and me.

Our debate topic is COASTAL DEVELOPMENT IS BENEFICIAL FOR PEOPLE

But we were the opposite site, we are defending this idea.

Aspects of opposition

Environment

•        Ocean unique ecosystem, diversity and marine living resources
•      Coastal zone specific importance (buffer zone) for the open ocean
•       Pollution: oil&gas, solid &liquid disposal and nuclear radiation(India, Japan, Mexico)
•      The worse condition of the coastal area causes natural disaster, tsunami, earthquake, typhoon
•      Coastal development destroyed Coral reef, mangroves, estuaries, coastal marshlands, sea grass beds
•      Human settlement and Human activities
•      Destruction and alteration of habitat are recognized as the greatest threat to biodiversity Before development
•      Population growth and urbanization (High population Density). The relationships between coastal population density and environmental impacts.
•      Fisher and aquiculture
•      Environmental Benefit and environmental Cost(before, during , after, short and long term)
•      Land reclamation: Netherland, Morroco, Ireland, China (Hong Kong, Macau, Qing Dao and Da Lian), Singapore, Japan(Tokyo), Malaysia and etc.
•      Biofouling

•        Safety: Crime Status
•     Culture Shock
•      Traffic Congestion

Land Reclamation

1.                     Land reclamation will destroy the ocean ecosystem and be harm to the marine living environment.  Marine cannot survive and it also causes red tides natural disaster. overload land reclaimed in the coastal area will make the harbor narrowed.
